The Issue

Growing up in Leeds, I've seen firsthand how the lack of recreational facilities can negatively impact the youth in our local area. As a concerned resident and a witness to the increasing number of children loitering on the streets, I strongly believe that building a skatepark at Tinshill Top Playing Fields is a necessary step to ensure the safety and well-being of our children.

Currently, our community feels neglected as most surrounding areas benefit from at least one skatepark, providing a safe space for kids to engage in physical activities. Our children deserve the same opportunities as those in neighboring communities. This skatepark can serve as a vibrant hub for the youth, fostering a sense of belonging and keeping them engaged in constructive activities.

In addition to promoting healthier lifestyles, a skatepark can also enhance community spirit by becoming a gathering place for families and individuals with shared interests. This initiative not only benefits the children but also boosts the local economy by attracting visitors and potential investors.

I have approached the local council with this proposal but, unfortunately, have not received the support needed to move forward. However, with the power of community backing and the potential involvement in local fundraisers, we can bring this project to life.

This is where we need your help. By uniting as families and residents of Leeds, we can show the council that there is significant demand and support for this skatepark. Let's give our children the environment they need to thrive, stay off the streets, and build a promising future.

Please join me in this important cause by signing and supporting the petition. Together, we can make a lasting difference for the youth in our community.
