Disc golf is rapidly growing in Champaign County and the courses we have are not enough to continue this growth. We need a championship quality, wooded disc golf course for disc golf to continue to grow in the area. The Champaign County Forest Preserve District has expressed interest in the potential of disc golf, but has reservations about installing a course. Disc golf is a fantastic sport that is continuing to grow day by day. The sport is extremely cheap, can be completed by almost anyone, offers a great opportunity to experience nature, can be played individually or with a group and is incredibly fun! An 18 hole disc golf course can be used by hundreds of people each day and is comparatively less expensive than many other park building projects. Additionally, it has a very minimal ecological and environmental impact and can help bring more people to Champaign County and to the forest preserves.

Currently, in Champaign County, there is only one 18 hole course at Dodds Park in Champaign. Installing another course would help to satisfy the demand of players and also allow for opportunities for more people to enjoy our forest preserves!

One major advantage of a new disc golf course in Champaign County is that it would allow us to host more and larger tournaments. Currently, the Champaign County Disc Golf Club hosts 1 PDGA sanctioned tournament a year. With an additional course, more tournaments are possible for the area. These tournaments would attract people from Champaign County and beyond and can have a major economic impact on the area.
