Anthony Grotte started this petition to Buffalo Minnesota residents and

A fine community member and business owner named Jay Johnson recently had his business vandalized, undoubtedly because of the large Trump flag he flies on his private property. For his troubles Buffalo City Council decided to go after him and threaten him with misdemeanor charges and excessive daily fines if he did not take his flag down. Jay recognizes he has a right to fly his flag that is protected by the 1st Amendment, and he isn't interested in taking it down.

The Buffalo City Council is inaccurately applying local ordinances that pertain to business advertising signs to Jay's flag. They admit that applying the ordinances to Jay's flag would then pertain to ALL flags, signs, etc. Their ordinances specify ridiculous sizes like 4 and 8 square feet that would place all residential flags in violation. And their ridiculously vague definition of "sign" could be applied to virtually anything.

Take a stand for free speech and against excessive government. This is a core principle of America and should be honored whether one agrees with the speech content or not. The 1st Amendment was written precisely to protect speech that may be unpopular, as popular speech needs no protection.
