We deserve better sports facilities in Chalfont St Peter

I have started this campaign to demonstrate to the council that there is a dire need for better outdoor sports facilities in our village.

Currently there are no free to use sports facilities in Chalfont St Peter.  Despite the population of the village increasing with recent housing developments, there has been no noticeable investment in better amenities for local residents.  The only opportunities for outdoor sports are team sports that require joining a club and paying subscriptions.  We have a number of playparks but these only cater for young people up to age 12.

Less than half of our young people achieve the Chief Medical Officers guidelines of 60 minutes of sport or activity per day.

We have an amazing site on the Mill Meadow that could be re-developed into an activity park which could be used by the whole community to promote better public health, reduce antisocial behaviour and make our village a nicer place to live and work.

A well designed skatepark, parkour equipment, outdoor table tennis tables, an outdoor gym, new children’s play equipment and other activities could be combined to provide residents with a facility that can be used by the whole community.

The recently opened Oxhey Activity Park is a great example of what is possible!

Other towns have these facilities, why shouldn’t Chalfont St Peter enjoy similar?
