Western Sydney University’s Liverpool Campus opened in June 2018. Since then, a number of students have expressed their concern regarding their own safety commuting to and from the campus to Liverpool station, especially during the early and late hours. It is a ten minute walk from the university to the station, which could be quite difficult for people who have disabilities as well as frightening for any individual who may be walking with expensive equipment such as laptops or if they are unaccompanied.

Students did not have a decision in transferring from the Bankstown to the Liverpool campus, where the shuttle bus services were available every fifteen minutes.

Other campuses such as Bankstown, Parramatta, Hawksberry and Penrith have regularly running shuttle bus services available for students.

Comparing Liverpool LGA crime statistics to Parramatta LGA crime statistics, Liverpool has a significantly higher rate of robbery, abduction and kidnaping, sexual offences and homocide according to BOSCAR statistics.

The need for a shuttle bus service during crucial and unsafe hours in Liverpool is clear as day, and we need to send a message to the University that we need this resource so that students can remain safe and secure in their daily commutes.
