The purpose of education is to help prepare students for the workforce but the current system is giving us educational bulimia. Students are not retaining what they are learning. They are just spitting out facts on tests to get good results. By implementing P.E.A.K students will start to receive those nutrients and retain that information.  Anzilotti a college professor helped conduct a study on hundreds of schools across the country and they found that students spend more than 500 hours per school year on pointless assignments that neither challenge or pertain to their academic goals (Anzilotti).  The equivalent of 500 hours would be 71.5 school days which is about six months of wasted academic progress. This means that not only are students wasting time, they also are not getting properly prepared for college or the workforce. The world is evolving so why are we teaching kids the same things over and over again the same way that our parents were taught? Einstein said, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insanity. That's what we have created with our education system.This is why Jordan school district needs to implement Ted Dintersmiths easy four-step plan which he calls P.E.A.K. By following this simple program of learning, students' education will change and improve greatly. If we can get enough people to support this change, we can take this petition to the next board meeting, as well as the other research that I have conducted to get this change passed.
