There is an overwhelming trend on Bryant University's campus where transgender and non-binary students remain in the closet until after graduation. This trend has been made extremely evident through a recent transgender alumni panel put on by the Pride Center. Trans and non-binary folks have shared that for many reasons, Bryant has not made them feel welcome and comfortable. The lack of all-gender bathrooms, the number of transphobic incidents, and the lack of transgender representation on campus are only a few of these reasons.

The Pride and Women's center has been single handedly run by one person for years, despite the fact that they are two separate centers. Although this person has been an incredible resource for people of all genders and sexualities, she is only one person. Many LGBTQ+ students have expressed that they do not have as much support as they need.

We believe that there need to be more resources and advocates for LGBTQ+ students on campus, especially those who identify as trans. In order for all students to feel safe and valued on campus, there needs to be a full time staff member working in the pride center that is knowledgeable on transgender issues.

Sign this petition to let administration know you support your transgender peers, want them to feel safe, and think adding a full time Pride Center Director is a necessary step to creating an inclusive campus.
