Support Low Income Schools

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Governor Rauner;

The people who have signed their name on this petition and document believe that the Illinois and Chicago governments have put bureaucracy above the education of students. Through our extensive research into the subject we have discovered that the budgeting plan claimed to fix the problem does not meet the needs of the students or teachers. The system that cuts funding for schools with lower test scores is a failing one. This system creates a divide that is unnecessary, and does not benefit any student. The Chicago Public School System educates roughly 450,000 students, or 16.5% of the population of the Chicago metro area, yet there are constant cuts that hinder a student’s ability to learn, and nothing changing for the betterment of the schools. We ask that you take this petition, and realize that a student’s education can not be measured by money. The Illinois and Chicago Governments must come up with a plan that gets the students the technology they need, as well as give the teachers the benefits they need to make a living.
