New building for Cheshunt Sea Cadets at Brookfield Garden Village

Cheshunt Sea Cadet Unit has been providing opportunities for young people in Cheshunt and the surrounding areas for over 50 years. However, the Unit has faced significant challenges since we were evicted from our headquarters building to make way for housing development on the former Cheshunt School site. The unit faced closure but for the support of Haileybury School and St Mary’s Church who assisted by providing temporary accommodation.
A registered charity run which is run entirely by volunteers, the Unit currently has a temporary home thanks to the generosity of Cheshunt Scouts, but not having our own building severely restricts the activities and training that we can provide.
The Brookfield Garden Village provides an ideal opportunity for Broxbourne and Hertfordshire County Council's to show their support for our work and include a new headquarters building as part of the overall development. A building on this site could act as a community hub as well as providing a youth facility right at the heart of this new community and allow us to continue to provide our unique training, opportunities and fun for young people in the Borough.
