Joshua Cocking started this petition to Broome Airport

This petition requests Broome International Airport build a sound barrier wall, to minimise noise, dust and visual pollution for residents of old Broome.

The wall could be built along the existing airport boundary, that runs parallel to Frederick Street. There are two main factors:

•Increase in air traffic, particularly choppers flying workers to offshore gas rigs.

•Airport perimeter fence has been brought significantly closer to properties backing on to Frederick street which is now used for heavy earthmoving machinery.

The quality of life for Broome residents particularly in old Broome has been impacted by recent developments at Broome Airport. Blade slap from choppers flying workers to offshore rigs begins from 6am through to 10pm and frequently operate outside these hours. Numerous residents complain of noise and structural vibration to their properties.
The airport boundary fence has been moved forward to within 40 metres of properties on Frederick street and this new space is now used as a work/storage space for heavy earth moving machinery and loose soil/gravel. Residents also complain of noise pollution and structural vibration to property.

A substantial wall along the northern edge of the airport minimises noise disruption for residents of Roebuck Estate, and households to the south would greatly appreciate the same courtesy.
