Legendary Reggae icon Bunny Wailer (Neville O'Riley Livingston), affectionately known as Jah B, transitioned on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the age of 73. One of the contributing factors in his death was his mourning his wife of 56 years, Jean Watt, who went missing and is yet to be found.

Born April 10, 1947 and raised in Jamaica, his works made that country and its diaspora in America, Europe and around the world proud to call themselves his compatriots. This native of Jamaica W.I. was the founding member of the most influential Reggae group in the history of Jamaica " The Wailing Wailers", which consisted of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer. In 1960 this pioneer group put Reggae on the map, worldwide.

In 1976, Bunny Wailer released his first solo album “The Black Heart Man". He wrote the songs, produced and released them on his own label, Solomonic. He is best known for songs such as "Electric Slide", "Dreamland"," “Cool Running’s” “Ready When You Ready",  “Roots", "Riding High", "Brainwashing", "Keep on Moving", "Pass it On", "Burnin' ", "Hallelujah Time", "Searching for Love", "Life Line", "Trod On", and "Arab Oil Weapon", and so much more.

Bunny's contributions have been an indelible gift to Brooklyn and to the whole world. A three time Grammy awards winner and the recipient the Order of Jamaica (OJ), the Order of Distinction, Commander Class (CD), and received many accolades for his tireless work in music and philanthropy. A strong advocate for the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana. Wailer, a member of the National Council of the Ganja Industry, said the youth who was falsely arrested and served time for small possession of marijuana should be the first to get a free license for dispensary.

In 2018 Bunny Wailer contributed to Friends of Wingate Park’s “Stop Gun and Gang Violence Campaign” and he said that the main way to achieve the goals of these causes was through our voices and through our votes. When performing in the states, Bunny made it a priority to visit his friends and family members who live here, especially in Brooklyn where he also took pride in helping and giving back to the community. We ask you to sign the petition to co-name Flatbush Avenue in honor of Bunny Wailer (Neville O'Riley Livingston –Livingstone).

The African Diaspora salute your contribution not only through music, but your fight for equal rights and justice. Condolences to his children, family, friends, loyal fans, and the Rastafarian Fraternity Family.

Memorializing this great man would be a source of pride for his beloved community and a source of inspiration for future generations. Co-Name Flatbush in honor of the original member of reggae group Bob Marley and the Wailers.
