END TRIAL BY THE MEDIA IN THE SOUTH BRONX

On Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 several young men in the South Bronx were arrested by Federal Agents in what was described as a drug ring. At the head of this supposed “criminal organization" were members of the rap group Hooly Gang. Immediately news stories and articles were published and aired that painted these young men as a terror to the community who engaged in turf wars and even murder. What struck family members was the fact that none of these men have been charged with murder or any of the actions that would constitute a turf war. What was more concerning is that Hooly Gang is a musical group who has gained quite a bit of notoriety and it seems that their lyrics are being used as weapons against them. What this movement aims to do is shed light on the tactics that are used by Federal bodies to vilify defendants who have not even stood trial. It also wants to prevent artistic expression being used as factual evidence in the court of law. We also want to share stories that demonstrate their efforts to help and support the community that they supposedly reigned terror on. All we simply want is a fair and honest handling of this case. Any support in sharing and getting this message out is graciously appreciated and accepted as we continue to put out our narrative.
