Violence has become a common practice in shared spaces in Namibia. Many of us have become bystanders in one way or another, reassuring ourselves that; 'It's non of our business' or that 'he was provoked'.

Spaces in this country allow men, especially those with money and are heterosexual to stay clear of accountability as their cheques are often more valuable than the dignity and integrity of the women and the LGBTQI+ community. The owner of this particular space (and the people that are meant to protect us) have not shown enough commitment to resolve, mitigate or address the issue in any effective manner. We are no longer going to be bystanders. This petition is first step away from the bystander culture and the first step towards becoming defenders against Violence.
