Anona van Lawick started this petition to Broadway Parish Council and

St Mary's School is on a busy main road servicing a significant proportion of the vehicles to enter and exit Broadway and the majority of the residential housing for the village.

The significant number of new build houses feeding into Leamington Road have increased the traffic levels with no mitigating safety measures considered for the children of our school and their families.

A car park directly opposite school necessitates a crossing point creating a pinch point of danger for families and vehicles alike.

With 1500 crossings per week of school children and their families with preschool children also, the situation is getting more dangerous every day. The most dangerous times are 9am, 3pm and 4pm.

The pedestrian crossing positioned outside of Broadway First School is too far away to service St Mary's School.

Vehicle's including 7.5 ton plus lorries parking outside of shops, on double yellows on the road adjacent to St Marys Primary School, drastically reduce visibility and safety, providing further support to our call for an additional safety measure in this location.

Vehicles gather momentum as they leave Broadway and the lack of clearly visible hazard information makes the school and our crossing families vulnerable.

Action:

A Lollipop Crossing Officer will safely highlight to drivers the hazard ahead and bring them to a controlled stop, creating a safer crossing point for our children and families and also a safer journey for drivers.

We petition Broadway Parish Council and Wychavon District Council to support the school and our in providing the Lollipop Crossing Patrol Officer, the funding for which we understand to be in place.

We must avoid an accident before it is too late. We have the ability to save lives and now is the time!
