200 trees to fall for 101 holiday units and 200 car parking spaces

Revised plans have been submitted to develop 101 holiday units and associated facilities at Haveringland Hall Country Park. The proposals are the latest attempt to put profit before people and nature at this idyllic location in mid Norfolk.

The economic case for the development at this location is even weaker than before. This is far outweighed by the negative impacts. These include the noise, light and traffic affecting the large number of elderly residents already living on the site and people living in the wider area:

  • its dense layout mainly of bland 'could be anywhere' boxes with 200 car parking spaces would surround these residences and spoil the setting of the nearby medieval Church
  • with no public transport links, 100's more vehicle journeys would be generated, with a close to doubling of carbon emissions and air pollution as well as reduced road safety on narrow, winding roads without footpaths.

The environmental and ecological damage to the Park will be enormous- some 200 trees would be felled and units would be located alongside lake edges destroying valuable wildlife habitats and much of a County Wildlife Site.

The proposals are not in line with several national and local planning policies and the negative impacts are not capable of effective control or compensation.

The plans are not socially, economically or environmentally sustainable.

There would almost certainly be some other consequences from allowing development which would exacerbate existing issues on the site, such as the use of holiday lodges as permanent residences.

Help us fight this by signing this petition, and even better, please drop an email to planning@Broadland.gov.uk, FAO Mr. G. Beaumont, quoting application no. 20191426 and stating your objection.

If you'd like to read about the plans and our assessment of them in more depth please visit our website  www.lineinthesand.uk where you can also find a template email for you to use to send in your objection. THANK YOU !
