Have Thanatophobia (Extreme Death Anxiety) Recognised As A Mental Health Condition in UK

Every day millions of people will be suffering with extreme Death Anxiety (Thanatophobia); the pain & suffering of which is mind-blowing. Characterised as a phobia or extreme anxiety when thinking about matters relating to death, dying, and existential angst. This phobia can be so extreme it can prevent a sufferer from working, living, even eating. In it's most severe form it can affect someone so badly that they take their own lives. Due to the nature of the phobia, there will be thousands, if not millions suffering in silence. Yet Death anxiety / Thanatophobia is not recognised as a seperate anxiety disorder and is often ignored or mis-diagnosed by the medical profession. Death Anxiety is often banded together with health anxiety or fear of dying people; rather than the extreme phobia & anxiety disorder that it is, when considering one's own mortality and morbid preoccupations become dangerously unhealthy. I run an online support group with over 1000 in my group alone. Recognising "Thanatophobia" as it's own mental health condition in the UK would shine a light on this darkest of anxieties - and would help create discussion, support, fundraising & awareness.
