B.C. HEROS Support-Us started this petition to British Columbia Premier John Horgan

If you live, work, or play in British Columbia or even if you are visiting this province then you need to know that if you get sick or injured away from a hospital, in many cases our Emergency Health Services is not prepared to come to your rescue. There are not enough ambulance attendants to serve our population and the vast majority (94%) are trained to provide only basic life support. A B.C. law makes it illegal for doctors, nurses, firefighters, search and rescue personnel and other first responders to treat a patient with any medical intervention beyond industrial first aid and they are not allowed to transport a patient to hospital. Only union paramedics employed by B.C. Emergency Health Services can provide advanced medical treatment and only they offer effective pain relief. In such a vast province where distances are long and hospitals help can be hours away, a rapid intervention can mean the difference between life and death. It's time this barbaric law changed. B.C. is the only jurisdiction with such a restrictive law which results in needless suffering, greater morbidity of injuries and preventable deaths. We need everybody to pressure their elected provincial representative to rewrite this piece of flawed legislation and force Premier John Horgan to make it possible for our medical professionals to do all they can to save lives.
