Seniors should have air conditioning in their units

Seniors should have air conditioning in their units
Why this petition matters
As we all know British Columbia, Alberta, and many other provinces have been faced with a terrible heat wave. Children have been kept inside, pets have been brought in to cool down and we have been checking in our elderly whom we care so much about.
I recently went to my mother's house, she is a senior and I was so appalled of the state she was in. Her small unit was so hot, it was the same temperate as the outside (+40) the windows are so small there was no way to even get a breeze of she wanted to in the evening. We brought her to our place with AC and when my husband and I went back in the heat of the day we found the air inside her small unit was so heavy and muggy and there was so much humidity.
We had to leave because it was just to hot! I imminently started looking for a AC until (small) to install or other ways to cool her down, only to find out that in her lease it states she is not allowed ANY AC, or small freezers, or any type of cooling system but a fan!!!! How are we not making AC available to our seniors?
How can we keep dogs in a cold place, and our children but our own seniors that live in such small units are not allowed AC? I believe it should be mandatory! I feel that this posses a health risk to our elderly that cannot always make it out to cooling areas! They should be able to relax in their own units with cool air.
Please feel free to share and sign if you agree that our seniors need to be better taken care of.
