Last night the BBC screened an extraordinary documentary regarding the daughter of the United Arab Emirates king and their wholly repugnant treatment of women and political prisoners - including the kidnapping of both of his daughters who tried to escape the oppressive regime. Princess Latifa's final video before her attempted escape is very moving - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN7OEFyNUkQ
I think the only way regimes like this one will learn what is acceptable in the world is if the world shows them by action that their behaviour is simply unacceptable.

Can I suggest that WV stops promoting DreamTrips to Dubai and states, very publicly why it is doing this. I also suggest you try to view a copy of last night's documentary to get the the most unbiased and illuminating account of these poor girls treatment and plight. That's here ... https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0bshk6s/escape-from-dubai-the-mystery-of-the-missing-princess

We can all bring this story to the attention of the world and collectively ban Dubai as a tourist destination. Women are being locked up in windowless solitary confinement, beaten and tortured and we are helping to fund this oppreesive regime every time we go to the Las Vegas of Arabia and patronise it with our tourist pounds and dollars.

As the world's dependency on oil diminishes with all the sterling work towards a carbon neutral economy, Dubai will need tourism for its money. Don't give it to them until they realise that their human rights are a sham and Sharia law still allows men to legally beat up and abuse their women and children.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has already been found guilty in a British court for kidnapping his own daughters, one Cambridge in the UK and one in International waters of a boat flying the American flag.
