Why this petition matters

Zimbabwe wants to modernise every aspect of its economy and welfare of its ordinary citizens by meeting international standards agreed on Climate Change. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government has committed itself to reducing carbon emissions and creating a cleaner environment. The government of Zimbabwe has a dedicated day, led by the President, of cleaning the environment. It put a significant ban of plastics and uses ethanol fuel for vehicles as part of its measures to make its Climate Change Goals.

However, Zimbabwe remain reliant on coal energy due to the unfair, unilateral economic sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom and United States governments. These economic sanctions mean, citizens still have to wantonly cut down trees for necessary things such as cooking everyday meals other essential things of life.  President Emmerson Mnangagwa continues to encourage and support citizens to plant an estimate of 50 000 trees every week to mitigate for loss of important forestry.

Removal of economic sanctions on Zimbabwe, will help the country expeditiously move towards modernising its sources of energy, including supporting ordinary people acquire solar energy and other renewable energy technologies.

Support Zimbabwe achieve its climate change goals by signing this petition. Thank you.
