As a big user of Vassals Park (in Fishponds) l strongly believe that Bristol parks should be free and accessible to everyone!
Bristol City Council are trying AGAIN to install parking charges to use its car park at Oldbury Court (Vassals Park) and gradually roll this out to other Bristol parks too! This will effect young families with children and dog walkers the hardest. Just imagine in the warm summer months going to the park with your little ones and a pushchair and a picnic to enjoy the park and paying upto £3.00 for just a single visit!
We already contribute to upkeep of Parks through our Council tax... this is a sneaky backdoor tax that will hit the pockets of hardworking families the most. Local residents will then bear the brunt of public parking in neighbouring streets to avoid paying parking charges (until the council install double yellow lines and force residents to buy parking permits to park outside their own homes!).

Parks should be FREE that means no sneaky parking charges. Many of us dog walkers who visit once a week would have to pay £8.00 a month to walk our dogs!!  Come on Bristol City Council... this isn’t fair!
This is a time when we should be promoting health and exercise for all - NOT putting financial barriers in the way.
