I am signing because my family came from St Paul’s and I remember the nice guys from the West Indies and the Bristol Bus boycott which lead to the anti discrimination act.

This man did great things for the city, rightfully challenging awful racist practices through his brave actions. He also served his country in the RAF in addition to his activism. Having a statue of this man in place of the slave trader would make me extremely proud to call Bristol my home.

I think Paul Stephenson would be a great replacement statue with a plaque about him and also about Colston who's statue used to stand on the plinth as evidence of changes as a comparison of Bristol residents through time.

This is the least we can do as an amends for unbearable and criminal suffering caused to people by slavery and racism..
