There is currently no Remembrance Park in Brisbane that commemorates Anzac and all Anzac Allies.
As we know there were incredible sacrifices during World War 1 by the Anzac. What is not as well known in Australia is that during WW1 the Allies of Anzac also sacrificed immensely and remembrance of this is very important to people in Australia. For example Russia lost 2,840,000, Italy lost 1,052,400 people, while Romania lost 580,000 people. The combined losses from just these three Anzac Allied Countries, Russia, Romania, and Italy is equivalent to more than the entire Australian population at the time. Serbia’s loss of life was also immense, being over one million people. The total losses of all Anzac and Allied Countries was 8,485,553 which is more than twice the population of Australia at the time. (Statistics from Wikipedia site).
A small park on the land fronting 37-53 Bandara St Richlands with dimension 50m X 150m (or other size appropriate to BCC) would go along way in showing we care not only for Anzac, but also other Allied countries. A lot of Australia's own population are from Anzac Allied Countries such as Serbia, China, Russia, Greece, Italy, Romania, and India. This would show we are caring towards Australian peoples heritage from other backgrounds, but also to the Governments internationally we are seriously caring about what their respective countries sacrificed during WW1.
The good will that would be shown to the Anzac Allied Countries would be considerable, it could help to further improve Australia’s relations with all these countries.
