Security Cameras for Deep Water Bend Boat Ramp!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
7:15am Sunday, 25th June we put the boat in at Deep Water Bend, Wyampa Road, Bald Hills, QLD. We had only been on the water for half an hour and got a call from the police to say a window had been smashed on the car and the tyres slashed.
It had been put in neutral and moved from where it was parked.
We definitely parked properly and we've both been fishing forever and are good with ramp etiquette. We didn't provoke anyone. We just wanted to spend a morning together fishing. Instead we spent almost 4 hours with police and trying to get the car on the road. It's also ended up being a very expensive fishing trip!
Police think whoever did this got disturbed when more traffic started using the ramp. It looks like they were trying to steal the trailer. Forensics said there was an incident the day before, and a guy we spoke to had his trailer stolen last week.
Since sharing the story on Facebook, many more people have mentioned theft and damage to vehicles.
Everyone, including police who attended our incident, agrees that security cameras are necessary at this boat ramp.
Please sign this petition for security cameras to be installed, to help make this boat ramp a safer place for people to leave their cars and trailers.
