Petition Closed

Hi Everyone,

I would like to ask for your assistance to sign this petition in relation to the permanent closure of Illaweena St

The original plan was to close it on school holidays and over the weekends. With one lane open Monday - Friday during school term..Brisbane City Council has now made this a permanent closure until at least 22nd January 2018 ( unless they decide to keep it closed despite our efforts) with no consultation and almost no notice to affected stakeholders (we were only given one weeks notice).

Stretton State College, Calamvale Community College, St Thomas More and Sunnybank High School have had to have their bus timetables altered because of this decision and children are arriving late to school.

I have been personally effected by this closure. A usual trip to drop the children at school would take 15 minutes, it now takes up to an hour depending on traffic conditions.

This will impact thousands of residents in Berrinba, Drewvale, Stretton and surrounding suburbs,  Illaweena St, is used as a major connector road by thousands of motorists and the closure means that we will all now have to do massive delays on Beaudesert Rd. the Logan Motorway or Compton Rd,all of which are already very congested during the morning and afternoon peak hours.

Trans Urban have indicated that the works CAN be completed with a partial road closure

I believe that BCC's decision is unfair and unreasonable.  After many letters, emails and meetings we are still fighting. The matter has been addressed in Council Chambers and also mentioned in State Parliament.

Various political member have voiced their concerns in regards to this matter

So I urge all of you to get behind this and sign the petition so we can have our say and hopefully have this ridiculous decision overturned as soon as possible

Look forward to receiving your signatures
