Bringing Families & Communities Back Together

Bringing Families & Communities Back Together
Why this petition matters
When we talk about rebuilding families and communities we usually think about reducing divorce rates to keep both parents in the home and increasing available jobs for the unemployed and homeless, but this problem actually goes way deeper than all of these things. You see, our communities actually hasn't been right since before the mid 1970's when Mass Incarceration began. But what if we allowed our incarcerated men and women the opportunity to prove to us they can be productive citizens to society, by offering them jobs outside of prison walls. In doing this we are preparing them to be positive counterparts in this world. We are giving them a chance to show that they can do the right thing and make good decisions And with family home visits added to that, now they have an opportunity to be with their wives or husbands in an intimate way and even take part in their children's lives, which now you're not only reducing the rate of child school suspensions and high school drop outs which solves another economic problem by the father now being back in the home, but you reduce the crime crime/violence rate amongst inmates within the prison system. Aggression goes down tremendously and we have more harmonious relationships between inmates and Officers. So let's make a difference and bring Ferrlough Visits back to Illinois! This can be the beginning of a lifetime worth living & putting back together again and the end of Broken Homes and Communities Everywhere!
