Bringing an end to human trafficking

Bringing an end to human trafficking
Why this petition matters
Human trafficking is often thought of as something that barely happens and doesn’t happen in Canada. However, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, in the past 10 years, there have been a reported 1,700 people or more who were trafficked in Canada, and as human trafficking is something that is largely hidden, the actual number is much higher. Additionally, a majority of people trafficked are 12-14 years old, these children are being exploited, and as their brains are still in their main stages of development, these experiences can leave a lasting impact on them. Human traffickers can look like anyone and generally know their victims, they manipulate people so they feel obligated to do things for them. As trafficking is still something that could easily happen to any of us, this petition is to help stop human trafficking and help the victims of it.
