The Cambridge Program promotes a flexible and academically rigorous curriculum that emphasizes critical-thinking skills and inquiry-based learning and fosters student creativity and engagement. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is among many districts nationwide working with Cambridge, marking a recent and continued expansion of access to the program and professional development in the United States. The Cambridge Program advanced level courses are equivalent to those of Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB). The Cambridge Program is a pathway to personalize their learning for plans beyond secondary education. Students will have more choices and flexibility in their course selection, gain a greater depth and breadth of subject knowledge, develop higher order thinking skills, be able to present reasoned explanations, understand implications and communicate them logically. Along with making our Academy of International Studies and Academy of Engineering stronger, Cambridge will also provide students who do not want to be in an Academy another option.
