Why this petition matters

Started by Molley Hutchings

My name is Molley Hutchings and I am a Senior at Lexington High School. As many of you already know, some of our local long standing homecoming traditions are being inexplicably removed from  the festivities for the 2022-23 school year. This year I have decided to take matters into my own hands when it comes to one event in particular. I am working to preserve the tradition of Fired Up Night. It honestly breaks my heart because we have had this tradition for many years and unfortunately due to COVID -19 my class was the last to ever experience this during our freshman year. If this were to end now there will be future classes who might never get this experience.  I believe our traditions should live on as they have since they were adapted many many years before I was born. Decorating the hallways as a class competition is also eliminated. Personally, decorating was my favorite activity because it brought the whole school together to create better relationships and people who aren't in extra-curricular activities got to be involved as well. It is a shame to see the traditions we have worked so hard for years to get to simply be eliminated. Please sign this petition to help Lexington High School and our community to demonstrate that our high school homecoming traditions are longstanding and important to sustain for current and future generations to enjoy.
