My name is Molley Hutchings and I am a Senior at Lexington High School. As many of you already know, some of our local long standing homecoming traditions are being inexplicably removed from  the festivities for the 2022-23 school year. This year I have decided to take matters into my own hands when it comes to one event in particular. I am working to preserve the tradition of Fired Up Night. It honestly breaks my heart because we have had this tradition for many years and unfortunately due to COVID -19 my class was the last to ever experience this during our freshman year. If this were to end now there will be future classes who might never get this experience.  I believe our traditions should live on as they have since they were adapted many many years before I was born. Decorating the hallways as a class competition is also eliminated. Personally, decorating was my favorite activity because it brought the whole school together to create better relationships and people who aren't in extra-curricular activities got to be involved as well. It is a shame to see the traditions we have worked so hard for years to get to simply be eliminated.
