Bring Hockey to The Shenango Valley.

The opportunity to try and play hockey at any capacity should not be limited to those with the means to do so.

For the average child the cost to a family to try hockey is upwards of $200 dollars per child. This cost is increased based on proximity and access to local rinks. A free publicly accessible DEK rink would provide children and adults the chance to try hockey, year-round, at a fraction of that cost. Not only is this beneficial to our children but also to the growth of the game alike.

Hockey truly is for everyone but without access or opportunity to try hockey in an affordable way most kids will never get the chance. The point of this petition is to raise support to bring a FREE, publicly accessible rink to the Shenango Valley.

There are many benefits to providing the community with a free and accessible DEK hockey rink. First and for most this would be a FREE place for our youth to have fun and spend time in a constructive and healthy manner. Unfortunately, due to social media, video games, and cell phones, many kids do not receive enough exercise. A rink, like other new activities available to the public at Buhl Park would provide significant health benefits and opportunities for exercise for our youth and adults.

We have spoken with City officials. To bring any significant change we will need the support of the community behind us to ensure enough interest is present. With your support and signature, I believe we can make a large impact.
