Totally out of control!
Aug 11, 2014 — Dear Friends of Wild Horses and Burros,
Recently the Associated Press reported that 'Feds seek extra holding space for western mustangs' (http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_26264815/feds-seek-extra-holding-space-western-mustangs) Sadly the BLM has made no changes to the shelterless holding facilities where captive wild horses suffer in extreme weather. There still is no shade for them in triple digit heat despite public outcry and offers to assist from more than a year ago and they want to roundup more!
Why is the BLM blatantly disregarding the 3 basics of animal husbandry: food, shelter, water?
We urge you to write your senators and congressional representative (http://www.contactingthecongress.org) a hand-written letter to their Washington, D.C. offices every week requesting they intervene to bring shelter to captive wild horses. If you live outside of the United States, please write the President at the White House requesting he intervene to take care of American symbols of freedom loved around the world.
Next the myths hurting wild horses and burros need to be dealt with.
The first myth that needs widespread attention is the BLM's “overpopulation” myth. It is used to get funding from Congress for cruel taxpayer-funded roundups.
If you are able, drive out to visit some public land herd management areas (HMAs) in the West and search out the alleged abundance of wild horses. Bring your binoculars and your camera to document what you find. Is the place swarming with wild horses? I bet you'll be lucky if you can spot any on such vast acreage--often the size of Rhode Island or more.
Write your elected officials to let them know overpopulation is a myth that was invented to sell roundups to Congress so the ranching and extractive industries could benefit from the massive removal of wild horses off of public land. Why? Just watch GASLAND 2 on Netflix and follow the money. . .

Native wild horses need you to become their champions because they are voiceless. They are being wiped out on the range and wiped under a huge spin campaign paid for with your tax dollars.
If we pull together and organize, we can stop the destruction of America's last wild horse and burro herds before they are truly managed to extinction.
Below is a video published July 8, 2013 more than one year ago and still no shade has been provided for wild horses--only test studies to determine if they need shade at all.
