We need more electric vehicle charging infrastructure in SW Portland.

The number of electric and plug-in electric vehicles in Portland has increased dramatically in recent years and will continue as we fight climate change and ever increasing gas prices.

There are no public charging stations in Multnomah Village or within walking distance to the community.  In fact, the nearest public charger is well over 1 mile away from this community.  This is a problem for people commuting to this part of the city and those living nearby that don't have access to charging at their home or apartment complex.

The city of Portland has a public parking lot located next to the Multnomah Art Center on Capitol Highway.  The installation of a bank of car charging stations here would draw customers to the business district and provide charging locations for those living and working in the community.  This is a great opportunity to increase tourism, economic vitality and public health in Multnomah Village.

The city could qualify for incentives from Portland General Electric and seek donations from the Multnomah Village Business Association member and well as the community.

Stations need to accommodate all types of electric vehicles with Level 2 and possibly a Level 3 fast charger.

We need swift action by the City of Portland, Multnomah Village Business Association and area businesses to make this happen quickly.

Multnomah Village, Portland is in a EV charging station desert, we need to solve this crisis.
