Why this petition matters

Started by Elizabeth Davis

There are very few people riding Connect Douglas buses now.  Use these buses to start Dial-A-Ride in Douglas County, Georgia.  Dial-A-Ride serves EVERY citizen in the county, not just those on a fixed route bus system.  The person needing a ride calls 24 hours in advance, tells them where they need to go, and they are picked up, taken to that location, and taken home again.

Other counties that have Dial-A-Ride:

Athens/Clarke County

If you live, work, play, or shop in the North Athens area, you’re in luck! Athens-Clarke County Transit has partnered with Uber to provide FREE on-demand rides within an expanded Route 30 service area. Beginning January 24th, Route 30’s fixed-route service will be replaced by all-on-demand service powered by Uber. Within Route 30’s expanded territory, you can get a ride, right when you need it, for free, using the Uber app and ACC Transit. ACC Transit will be displayed as an option if your travel plans are within the on-demand service area and will send a van, or a bus, to you.

In Hall County, "Hall County commissioners declined about $400,000 in grant funding in April to continue operating Red Rabbit jointly. The city has applied for that funding. The FTA pays for 90 percent of all capital costs."

We the undersigned request that the county use the buses from the four fixed route bus routes and utilize them for Dial-A-Ride.
