The students of Wells College should have an equal opportunity towards their room selection. The formula of GPA x10 + Credit Hours Earned works best for larger institutions (unlike Wells) and is usually a private matter. Using this formula for the public housing selection process is unfair and creates a visible hierarchy amongst the students.

Students were NOT involved in this decision making process and were NOT informed of this new lottery system until after it's solidification. Students are directly affected and should have a say in the lottery system for their housing.

Solutions

Bring back the Random Lottery. It was a more equal and fair option than the new formulated system. Students chose a number at random only divided by their credits earned determining their academic standing (Rising Seniors, Rising Juniors, etc.)

Include Students in the process. If there is going to be an offered change in the housing selection, include those that are directly affected and involved i.e. the students.
