Since Covid-19, the students union at the University of Calgary has avoided opening the basement level bar/restaurant know as “The Den” as well as hosting the infamous “thurs-den” club style events on campus. 

With the campus community taking a hit from the pandemic now is the time for our community to return and grow. With residence levels at record high occupancy there is a local group that could greatly benefit, many of whom do not know of the campus bars’ existence. 

We should also focus on the safety of students avoiding the downtown core with individuals being the victim of violence and discrimination. Also, saving students the costs of transportation and overpriced entertainment in the clubs and bars off campus. We as students would like to see The Den return to its former glory.
