Dear Mr President 

I sit here, browsing through the news on my phone on a rainy Wednesday evening. I'm not shocked at all the murder cases on the news anymore. I'm not shocked at the crime and theft in our country. I'm not shocked at the rape statistics in our country. We see it everyday. It is happening everywhere. We hear about it from everyone.

 What shocks me, Mr President is how you and the government are not doing anything to stop this brutality. What shocks me, Mr President, is how you sleep peacefully in your mansions with many guards at your gate and their main priority being your safety, while the safety of your people means nothing. What shocks me , Mr President, is how the perpetrator of these vicious crimes get away so easily with their doings. You have failed me, you have failed my friends, you have failed my neighbors, you have failed my fellow citizens of the country and you have failed all of South Africa. 

How many more rapes, murders and crimes will it take for you to step up? What will it take for you to stop this? When will you realize that South Africa has a huge problem? What will make you bring back the death penalty ? Innocent lives are being taken all the time. I read the story of the beautiful innocent 4 year old girl, Bokabo Poo who was raped and murdered. Wait, that's not all. She was then mutilated. Her parents not only had their heart in pieces, but also were left finding the pieces of their daughters precious body. They will live a lifetime, not forgetting this hardship and heartache, but what about the heartless murderer? He will come to court, serve a few days, get out , and then repeat the crime because he knows he can get away with it again. 

What about the rest of the innocent children playing and enjoying their childhood in the park, only to be told to go buy something from Tuckshop and little did they know what they headed for. Picture this Mr President, your innocent granddaughter was playing with her friends, and next thing she went missing. You later find out that she was raped and murdered. We'll stop there. Imagine the moment she gets raped. Then imagine the moments of the murder. What were her feelings like at that time. How did she deal with the pain. It gives me goosebumps , what about you? This isn't a fiction story! It's the true reality of South Africa. Every child is an easy target. No one is safe! Wake up! How must the majority of our country live lives like this. When will it stop. 

Dear Mr President,let the story of Bokabo Poo help change the situation of our country. Let's make the country safe. Let our country become a safe haven for innocent kids to live their happy childhood without having a fear of being killed. 

Bring back the death penalty. Bring back the death sentence. Bring back the peace. Give us the ability to say we are PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN.
