As of March 1, 2022, President Tuajuanda Jordan sent out an email that reduced mask regulations at St Mary's College of Maryland, thus making SMCM no longer a fully masked campus. These new rules allow people to be unmasked in academic buildings, as well as campus center, the great room, the library and Glendening. Although in line with the CDC regulations, this creates a very uncomfortable environment for both students and staff who are immunocompromised or just anxious about COVID. This does not abide with the Saint Mary's way, and draws away from the safe learning environment the campus holds so dearly.
