CRHS recently implemented a strict no-phone in class policy, which the students have been abiding by. One area where this rule has also been applied has been in the Student help centre, or E-100. Students are no longer aloud to use or do school work on their phones while in E-100. Some times waiting for an appointment with a councillor can take up to 30 minutes, and without being allowed a phone, can feel like an eternity. Not only does it not allow students to do homework, as most homework is assigned online, but also, for students who come to the help centre struggling with extreme anxiety, depression, or even suicidal thoughts, having a bit of time to distract themselves on their phone and talk to their parents or do anything that may help them calm down before seeing their councillor can be extremely helpful. By signing this petition, you’re helping us bring this cause to the attention of the staff and hopefully allowing students to at-least be allowed supervised access to phones while in the help centre.
