The excitement of Queen's Orientation Week is one key area of the student experience that has taken a hit during the pandemic.  What has been a major draw for students and a key part of the student experience has suffered over the past couple years.  What used to be a full week dedicated to Orientation has since been cut back. In 2017, Orientation week began on September 3rd and classes did not start until September 11th.

As we (hopefully) approach normalcy and the ability to get back to the infamous Queen's student experience, we approach more constraints around the dates students will have dedicated to orientation week.  Currently, the orientation days will be separated by the first week of class.  With this structure, first years will not have the opportunity to get fully acclimated to our campus before jumping into their academics.  Additionally, orientation planners will not have a chance to recharge between the first two weeks or to review their academic work over that weekend.  The proposed solution is to move forward residence move-in by one week and to have orientation activities take place completely before classes begin.

By signing this petition, you are showing support for changing move-in day to be one week earlier and allowing first years to have a full week for orientation activities.
