- The year was 2004. PepsiCo came out with Mtn Dew Pitch Black. It was a mtn dew that tasted like a Grape soda with a hint of Mtn Dew. It won the Dewcision 2016 contest against Mtn Dew Baja Blast (current lineup) and was in competition with it for a few years. Come 2018, it was the last time I saw it on store shelves. Come 2020, PepsiCo yanked it from US shelves, and currently resides in Malaysia. A trademark for Mtn Dew Pitch Black Zero Sugar was filed. Let's push PepsiCo to bring the flavor back with it's Zero Sugar counterpart.
