Bringing back JobKeeper to flood affected regions would ensure the survival of the local economy, jobs and businesses. Whilst there is certain income support available, the currently available Disaster Recovery Allowance, which stands at just over $600 per fortnight, is woefully inadequate. Many have no place of work left, whilst others have lost thousands of dollars through lack of infrastructure, and extreme weather preventing work from occurring. The return of JobKeeper would not only allow businesses to remain operational and the local economy to rebuild, but would also allow certain trades leeway to provide flood relief work. Flood affected regions needed help after the first floods, now this second round has made the situation dire for so many.
