Bring Back Fun at East High

Bring Back Fun at East High
Why this petition matters
September 24 was our homecoming. Some irresponsible students participated in a mosh pit during the homecoming dance, resulting in minor injury among a few students. The dance ended early. As of this week, East High has made the decision to cancel every dance up until prom, leaving some devastated. I personally, do not think this was the right approach because the same thing could happen at prom if we are not given instruction as to why moshing isn’t safe at school sanctioned dances. A more reasonable approach could be something like an assembly on why mosh pits are dangerous and how injury is possible and why not to do them. This will also help prevent east students from going to other schools such as highland or west for the cancelled dances, possibly causing these other schools to be overwhelmed. Cancelling the dances is just like your parents saying “go to your room” and in the end, it doesn’t do anything really. “It’s my senior year and I want to go to the other dances” said a current student at East High. “It’s my last year being a kid and I’m upset a mosh pit basically took that away.” Said another fellow senior. Signing this petition is to bring fun dances back to east high this year, but it is also an agreement to not participate in any moshing at East High dances. Go leopards!
