Why this petition matters

Started by Theodore Molstad

DAN 200 is a class that had gone through many meetings and desks to get the “okay” to be created, I’m assuming because it was thought that the class wouldn’t be terribly popular- which is exactly what happened. After not having enough sign ups, this fall only class was cancelled. I plan to graduate this spring and am already incredibly passionate about African Dance Forms (DAN 428) and the aspect of African Dance in general and would really love to take this class as well as share it with others who might be interested as well, or who want a creative outlet to complete a GenEd.

The class will teach you about different cultures in Africa, the significance of their dance and music, how to perform the dances and listen to the music, hearing the cues and instruments used. As well as cover the Global Viewpoints GenEd, this class is phenomenal and challenging and pushes you to learn to use your whole body at once in different ways.

I ask for your signature to get this class back in session this semester and please especially sign it if you would be interested in taking it!!
