Bring back canopy cover to Bangalore

Bring back canopy cover to Bangalore
The truth is, Bangalore is headed for a tree disaster. After many years of rapid urbanization, the city went from 68% tree cover in 1973 to 2% in 2020. That is a 95% decrease in tree cover in the time period. If we continue at this pace, the beloved "garden city" will be gone. We need to act fast to help save the trees and help Bangalore become a more livable city. Tree cover can help with mental and public health. Being around trees help reduce stress and lowers your blood pressure. Plus, trees and greenery improves your mood. And public health as trees help cool down areas when it is warm, reducing the effects of the heat and helps reduce crime according to data. Trees are also a major player in the fight against climate change. Trees create places for animals and other vegetation to live. Trees also absorb CO2 which improves air quality. Trees helps improve air quality as well and prevents floods and erosion by holding soil and water in place. 100 trees can hold 100,000 gallons of rain each year. Trees also cool down the earth. Parking lots with trees can lower the temperature on asphalt up to 36°F and inside of cars up to 47°F. Trees can also also lower A/C bills 30%. And, trees also block out noise as well to stop noise pollution.
Trees even lead to economical health as homes near trees tend to be valued at 9 to 15 times more than houses without.
Please help the campaign to plant more trees to help Bangalore return to its glory as "The Garden City."
