Decision Maker Response

Boris Johnson’s response

Feb 23, 2016 — Dear Petitioner

Thank you for the petition submitted on the change.org website about the removal of the “Iconic” Lucozade sign in Brentford.

Unfortunately, the Mayor has no statutory powers over advertisements such as this and is therefore unable to intervene in this matter.

The Mayor's planning powers are strictly defined by the Mayor of London Order (2008), with the Mayor referred strategic planning applications that meet a set of criteria, primarily based on size. The Mayor is unable to intervene in planning proposals that do not meet this criteria, which are the sole responsibility of the local planning authority. Further information on the Mayor's planning powers can be found at the following link: https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/planning/planning-applications-and-decisions/what-powers-does-mayor-have-planning.

I am sorry that the Mayor cannot be of assistance in this matter.

Yours sincerely
