Residents of Glenview are uniting to request that the Board of Trustees revisit the proposed redevelopment planned at 1225 Waukegan Road, Glenview, IL, more commonly referred to as the Old Village Hall site.
More specifically, the proposed development (“Park Place Glenview”) includes the construction of six (6) row homes hovering Four Stories tall and situated between the fire station and homes located along Raleigh Rd and Vernon Ct. The existence of these row homes will significantly impact the privacy, character and appeal of the Bonnie Glen neighborhood and will hinder the long-term success of Park Place Glenview.
We, the undersigned, hereby request that the Board of Trustees eliminate these row homes from Park Place Glenview and in its place construct some form of outdoor space. This request is based on the following:
- Bulk and scale of the row homes on this small parcel is not in-line with the character of the surrounding neighborhood. Privacy of surrounding residents will be negatively impacted and the value of their homes impaired.
- Park Place Glenview is designed with no green space – an outdoor space will afford the incoming residents a place to socialize with their neighbors and provide a safe environment for children to play.
- A park / green space will have a positive economic impact on the value and salability of the remaining development and ensure long-term success of Park Place Glenview. Further, an outdoor space will help alleviate potential drainage issues that have plagued the Bonnie Glen neighborhood and provide sufficient room for snow removal, etc.
