Save the Humboldt Penguins at the Mumbai Zoo
This petition had 446 supporters
In 2009, the BMC announced a facelift of the Byculla Zoo, an INR 433 crore makeover plan, which included flying down eight Humboldt penguins from Seoul that would be put on display in an observatory at the Mumbai Zoo. These penguins were flown down in mid-2016 and were kept under supervision in a quarantined section of the zoo. Even as this news was received in July, we recently received news that one of the penguins had died of a bacterial infection. This proves that we clearly do not have the facilities to care for these poor animals. They're being exploited to suit local political agendas and nothing is really being done to ensure their safety. These Humboldt penguins need to be sent back home. Please support me by signing this petition and help me in my effort to drive change for the better.
