Pedestrianise Rottingdean High Street

Pedestrianise Rottingdean High Street
Whilst Rottingdean is a favourite destination for a nice day on the beach or classic cream tea on a Sunday, the High Street is one of the places most wish to avoid. Always packed with cars, gridlocked traffic, air pollution and no space for pedestrians to walk comfortably.
Unbelievably, big double decker buses still travel through the narrow road in both directions.
As a resident, the entrance to my house is often blocked by cars and it can be challenging to cross the road. The sidewalks don't always allow more than one person at a time and they only exist on one side of the road at some points.
Pedestrianising Rottingdean High Street would make it safer and more pleasant to both residents and visitors. It would resolve the issue of air pollution and help local shops to strive with increased footfall.
Not to mention the aesthetic benefits! Old photos of Rottingdean show the beautiful village, its ancient buildings and flint walls. Today all we can see is cars, buses and traffic. I hope the not so distant future brings Rottingdean the beautiful pedestrianised streets we already see in central Brighton (New Road and Ship Street), London (Carnaby Street) and in so many medieval towns in the UK and Europe.
