Uber isn't perfect. It's not a great employer, it doesn't always play by the rules, and like a lot of tech firms it's got a chequered history with data protection.
But for many of us it is a convenient, cheap and reliable way of getting around.
Three councillors who have never used Uber have made the decision on behalf of 250,000 people in Brighton and Hove they know better than us whether we should be allowed to do business with this company. They've even said a main reason for refusing the licence was the 2016 data breach - but of course they don't propose limiting our access to facebook or Apple's icloud.
We are appalled they believe this is their decision to make. The people of Brighton and Hove are intelligent, informed consumers and should have the right to use the taxi service of our choice.
We the undersigned support Uber's appeal and want to continue to have the choice to use Uber in Brighton and Hove, should we wish to do so.
