Permit students to hold hands without threat of suspension or expulsion
A significant part of healthy student life on campus is the ability to form beneficial and positive relationships with other students, regardless of gender. In many cases these beneficial relationships can last a lifetime. Holding hands, a physical expression of friendship, appreciation, and closeness with other students, should not be forbidden.
- Brigham Young University Campuses
We, the undersigned, ask that Brigham Young University campuses adopt a policy permitting all students to be able to hold hands regardless of gender.
A student was reported as having held hands with another student of the same gender. The student was suspended for the remainder of the semester.
We ask for a policy change and to restore this student's ability to attend the university.
